| Remarks To A Forum Organized By The International Energy Forum Secretariat | (03-Nov-2007) |
By Guy Caruso, Administrator of the U.S. Energy Information Administration | The outlook on world energy markets through the year 2030 is based on my agency’s International Energy Outlook 2007 (IEO2007) that was released in May 2007. The projections are not statements of what will happen but of what might happen, given certain assumptions. The projections are business-as-usual forecasts, given known technology and technological trends, demographic trends, and current laws and regulations. World energy consumption is projected to increase by 57 percent from 2004 to 2030. Total world energy use rises from 447 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) in 2004 to 702 quadrillion BTU in 2030, an average annual increase of 1.8 percent. Robust projected growth in energy deman

| Norway: A Success Model In Energy | (02-Feb-2007) |
By Syed Rashid Husain, Vice-President of the Trading and Consulting House Al-Azzaz Est. | Not long ago while in discussion with a senior Norwegian diplomat on the explosive regional situation and the then ongoing army operation in the energy- rich Balochistan province of Pakistan, I pointed out that many in the region believed that oil and energy assets have proven to be more of a curse than a blessing for the region, in which he quipped "but not in the case of Norway." And he had a point one could not dare negate.Norway, a small country not far from the North Pole with only 4.5 million inhabitants, holds a very interesting energy portfolio. It is the third largest oil producer of the world, behind Saudi Arabia and Russia and also supplies immense volume of gas to the w

| Foreign Policy – Energy Policy A Norwegian Perspective | (24-Jan-2007) |
By Olav Akselsen, M.P. Chairman, Foreign Relations Committee of the Norwegian Parliament | It is pleasure to be back in Riyadh. My pleasure is very much more than the climatic comfort of leaving a cold and dark Norwegian winter to enjoy the warmth of the Saudi Sun. My pleasure is very political and personal. I have greatly appreciated the warm hospitality of the “Shoura”, the host of my official visit to Saudi Arabia, and have benefited greatly from discussions with Saudi colleagues and high-level representatives of the Kingdom. This is not an easy or delightful time in international politics. And it is a time of energy challenge and concern. We need more dialogue and better international understanding to address successfully the many sensitive political issues of our day – not le
